Varex M113-T Tube
MEL-01406-FRUThe Varex M113-T is the OEM X-ray tube designed specifically for the Dimensions platform. It replaced the earlier M113-R used on the original Selenia (the two are not interchangeable). The tube produces the X-ray beam used for both 2D digital mammography and 3D tomosynthesis acquisitions. First signs of tube degradation include edge artifacts, inconsistent image density, exposure errors, and gradually increasing mAs required to achieve target optical density. Average tube life is 6–9 years depending on patient volume and site conditions. Tube replacement is a major service event requiring disassembly of the tubehead, high-voltage connections, and full recalibration of generator output, AEC, and image quality. The Dimensions/3Dimensions platform is the most widely deployed digital breast tomosynthesis system in the U.S., used in over 60% of certified mammography facilities.
