The Hologic BREVERA is the first breast biopsy system to combine vacuum-assisted tissue acquisition with real-time CorLumina imaging technology in a single device. This integration allows radiologists to verify specimen quality immediately during the procedure, reducing the time patients spend under compression and minimizing the need for additional tissue samples.

The system consists of an upper console with an imaging display and a lower console that houses the imaging cabinet, vacuum system, and electronic controls. Tissue samples are automatically sorted into a 12-chamber disposable filter, with each chamber labeled to correspond with specimen radiographs for accurate pathological correlation. The imaging cabinet contains a digital detector and X-ray source specifically designed for high-contrast specimen imaging.

Because the BREVERA combines multiple clinical functions into a tightly integrated system, component failures can impact both the biopsy and imaging workflows simultaneously.
