The Hologic Affirm Prone is a dedicated stereotactic breast biopsy system designed for prone-position procedures. Unlike the upright Affirm system that attaches to a Dimensions gantry, the Affirm Prone is a standalone unit with its own patient table, X-ray source, detector, and workstation. The prone position allows the breast to hang naturally through an opening in the table, providing gravity-assisted tissue separation and improved patient stability during the procedure.

The system includes a full imaging chain — X-ray source, compression device, digital detector, and acquisition workstation — plus the stereotactic targeting components that calculate needle position from paired stereo images. The workstation runs dedicated biopsy software with real-time targeting visualization. Key mechanical components include the compression motor and brake assembly, carriage system, and gantry positioning mechanisms.
