The Hologic InSight FD (Flat-panel Detector) represents Hologic's transition from earlier detector technologies to solid-state flat-panel digital imaging. The system uses a direct-conversion detector that captures X-ray images without the intermediate conversion steps found in older computed radiography systems, delivering improved spatial resolution and dose efficiency.

The InSight FD architecture includes a dedicated X-ray source assembly, flat-panel detector, X-ray controller, and shared components with the InSight and InSight 2 platforms.
